PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Directing, motivating, developing capabilities and managing wholesalers to achieve company targets and objectives through the following specific responsibilities:

Brand Strategy Implementation and Management

  • Support and ensure compliance to Mankato Brewery brand standards
  • Develop capabilities within wholesaler to develop and execute programs that enhance the availability and visibility of Mankato Brewery’s portfolio
  • Execute periodic special events, festivals, and marketing programs to enhance the image and reputation of the brand in the market place, including, but not limited to:
    • Corresponding with potential and actual event coordinators
    • Set-up and breakdown events including all event equipment and display materials
    • Attend events as a representative of Mankato Brewery

Product Placement

  • Develop tools to manage and measure the growth of the availability of Mankato Brewery’s portfolio
  • Increase physical and effective distribution and shelf space within accounts
  • At a minimum, ensure Mankato Brewery’s share of space within marketplace is equal to or greater than share of market
  • Work to secure best placement of signage and products within distributor and marketplace
  • Develop programs that support Mankato Brewery’s corporate distribution drives as well as implement independent programs that capitalize on market specific opportunities
  • Develop the optimal approach for assigned marketplace for maximizing product placement, which will normally include:
    • Aggressively pursue new draft distribution
    • Increase velocity per outlet
    • Improve impact and placement of point of sale tools

Inventory Management

  • Develop a direct relationship with distributor(s)’ inventory and warehouse management team
  • Generate and manage sufficient days on hand, on a SKU level, for entire Mankato Brewery’s portfolio within assigned distribution network as well as within trade
  • Ensure accurate submission of forecast, accounting for all activity that may influence future orders (e.g. calendar days, weather, historical and competitive activities, wholesaler buying patterns, current inventory levels, etc.)
  • Coordinate with Mankato Brewery’s Supply Chain Manager to confirm and establish shipments and shipment patterns for assigned distributors
  • Ensure compliance to Mankato Brewery’s product standards with respect to freshness and in market dates

Revenue Management

  • Procure and report competitive activity with respect to unit pricing, discounting activity and programming into the Regional Sales Director and/or Sales Operations team
  • Generate suggested targeted pricing and promotional calendar for portfolio
  • Manage the monthly submission process for pricing allowances provided to distribution network to ensure timely and accurate reporting and payments
  • Develop programs to ensure Mankato Brewery’s product mix is optimized and managed against annual business plan
  • Ensure monthly and annual shipment plan number is achieved, at proper unit revenue

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Deliver assigned shipment target
  • Successfully launch new/focus beers in marketplace
  • Deliver assigned depletion target
  • Achieve assigned gross margin plan
  • Achieve Cicerone Certification

SKILLS/EDUCATION/COMPETENCIES

Education: Bachelor Degree required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with direct wholesaler management in the consumer product goods industry OR minimum of 3 years management experience within beverage industry
  • Minimum of 1 year managerial responsibilities including budget management
  • Significant experience leading employees and/or clients and influencing outcomes including the creation of incentive programs

Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license without any alcohol related offenses
  • Must be able to drive long distances regularly
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs regularly
  • Must be able to work outside of regular business hours which may include nights and weekends
